i found some cool stuff on the restoration hardware website i'd thought i share...
In the grand chateaux of 18th-century France, the porter, stationed by the entrance to admit visitors, would have sat in a chair much like this.
How would you like this in your closet? Made to atelier standards, handcrafted of papier-mâché, dressed in labeled antiqued linen.
Among the oldest designs in formal seating, the X-based bench appears in ancient Greek and Roman art and has graced staterooms and palaces, salons and inner sanctums for centuries.

That first chair is unbelievable.
These pieces are really fabulous! The structures of the chairs are interesting too, you can really see every detail and carvings. I like it :)
Love that first chair - Kelly Wearstler is decorating with these like they're going out of style. Loved her use of them in blue at Bergdorf's best of all. Great finds!
Oh number 3 has to be my favorite!
I love all these items, but I've always coveted a dress-makers form!
I love an x-bench and this is a great example. Very sensuous and the nailhead is a great touch with those curves.
